Creativity for Nightowls

Nightshift, the perfect time for the creative juces to flow! As a security officer I often find myself working long 12 hour shifts. Night-times are especially dragging, with just cold security monitors and an empty car-park for company. Under penalty of losing one's income, falling asleep on the job is an enormous no-no, despite the fact that there is little else to do other than that. So a hobby or past-time is essential to hold back natures way of speeding up the time. My artwork is excellent for that, once all the business paperwork is done then its time for my own. It keeps the mind active for without that stimulation, the mind will simply shut down.

Introduction: The thought behind the art.

The one major question i get asked about my artwork is simple: Why science fiction? Why not paint landscapes or portraits or bowls of fruit. My answer is simple: why not?
What attracts me to science fiction art is the imagination behind it. Taking the raw imagination of the mind's eye and making it look real, belivable, livable. To make the audience leave the humdrum of their everyday lives and give them a place where they can lose themselves if only for a little while. This to me is the ultimate attraction of the subject. it could be romantic, horrifying, exciting or surreal, but always appealing for those willing to dip in once in awhile.
Many people say though as a counter to this, but to get anywhere you need to diversify. True, but you also need to enjoy the subject, the love and care behind it is as important as the execution of the work. And i love science fiction. People can see what i'm capable of, and in that respect my abillities, no matter the subject, is visable for all to see.
